What we often see on GDM and GDS
after 30 years.
Discontinued parts are doable.
GDS Sprint components and older GDM parts are usually no longer available from the manufacturer. We fall back on our own archive and on third-party suppliers we have known since the 1990s.
Controls are often the problem, not the mechanics.
EPL and EP boards from the 1980s and 1990s are the first to fail. The mechanics of the GDM range generally hold up. We repair both — and we discuss in person beforehand what is worth doing.
We can overhaul spindles.
A GDM main spindle with a failed bearing set is usually not a write-off. We strip it down, measure it, replace bearings and seals — and test it under load before it goes back.
We also say honestly when a repair no longer pays off.
Some GDS machines are economically at the end of the road. We say so up front. Advice is free, even when the answer is: better to buy a replacement machine.
