NEF mechanics last. Electronics give up first.
The slant bed, headstock and axis guideways of the NEF are usually still in good shape. What comes due first are old control boards, operator units and drive electronics from the early production years.
Discontinued parts are doable.
NEF components are often no longer available ex works. We fall back on our own archive and on long-standing second-source suppliers. Anything we can't find, we have remanufactured to the original drawing.
We can overhaul spindles.
A NEF main spindle with a damaged bearing set is usually not a write-off. We strip it down, measure it, replace bearings and seals — and test it under load before it goes back.
We discuss cost-effectiveness up front.
Some NEF machines are no longer worth repairing. In that case we say so honestly. Advice is free, even when the answer is: better to buy a replacement machine.

Are spare parts still available for the Gildemeister NEF?
Yes. For the NEF series we supply spare parts from our 30-year workshop archive and an established supplier network — including long-discontinued years of manufacture. If a part is no longer available anywhere, we look into overhauling it or having it remanufactured to the original drawing. The quickest way to clarify this is by phone or via the Parts Finder.
Which NEF models do you cover?
Our focus is on the NEF 320, 400, 480, 500, 520 and 600 as well as the NEF plus. Other years of manufacture and special variants we research on request — just tell us the machine type or the part number from the type plate.
Do you also repair the control or the drive of a NEF?
Yes. We repair the control, operator unit and drive technology of the NEF at component level in our own workshop — even where the manufacturer has discontinued support. We narrow down what is actually faulty by diagnosis before anything is replaced.
What does a NEF repair cost?
There are no flat-rate prices. Repair here is diagnosis-driven — we only see the scope after a visual inspection on the test bench, and we discuss it with you before we start.
Is repairing an old NEF still worth it at all?
That depends on the condition of the machine and its remaining service life. NEF mechanics are usually solid; often only the control, the operator unit or the bearings are due.
