// Symptom instead of a repair order?
We narrow it down by phone.
Before we open anything up: often we can narrow down by phone what's broken and what's worth repairing — and what isn't. 5–10 minutes on the phone usually saves a wrong part swap.

How we repair.
Four statements, no fluff.
Component level, not assembly swap.
We don't reflexively replace the whole circuit board. We find the faulty capacitor, the cracked solder joint, the failed driver — and repair that. It's cheaper and more sustainable.
Our own test bench, not manufacturer promises.
Every repair is measured under load, with a function test report. You get numbers, not just "works again" — even when the manufacturer no longer tests the component at all.
We repair what manufacturers have given up on.
Heidenhain EPL from the '90s, discontinued Simodrive drives, MD operator panels with worn membrane keypads — if it still exists, we'll find a way.
We discuss economics upfront.
Some repairs no longer make financial sense — then we say so honestly. Advice is free, even if the answer is: better to swap the part or use a replacement component.

// Sending a Component From Outside Germany
The Machine Stays.
The Electronics Travel.
Our workshop is in Herford, Germany — but your machine does not have to be. You ship the component to us, we test it on our own bench, repair it and ship it back. No on-site visit, no travel cost, no waiting for a service window.
// What We Take In This Way
Heidenhain EPL and EP controls, Siemens Simodrive drives, control boards, operator panels and screens, spindles — including models the original manufacturer no longer supports.
// How to Send It
Write or call us first — we confirm shipping and customs details together with your quote, so nothing gets held up on the way. Include your return address and a short note on the fault; a printed copy of your inquiry is enough.
// Price
We quote after inspection on the test bench, never before — no flat rates. Prices are ex works, excluding packaging and insurance, plus VAT where applicable.
// What You Get Back
The repaired component with a function test report from our bench. If a repair is not worthwhile, we say so — and tell you what an exchange unit would cost instead.

// FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do you repair Gildemeister lathes without manufacturer support?
Yes. We repair at component level in our own workshop — controls and circuit boards, spindles, drives, hydraulics — even for models discontinued long ago, for which the factory no longer offers service.
What does a Gildemeister repair cost?
No flat rates. Repair at ESDI is diagnosis-driven: we only see the actual scope after a visual inspection on the test bench, and we discuss it with you before we start.
How does a repair at ESDI work?
Four steps: inquiry, diagnosis on the test bench, quote, repair with a function test report. Personally accompanied, backed by around 30 years of Gildemeister workshop experience — feedback within 24 hours on business days.
Do you repair on-site or in the workshop?
Both are possible. For straightforward faults, shipping the component to our Herford workshop is usually faster and cheaper than an on-site visit — we clarify by phone which makes more sense.
Is it still worth repairing an old Gildemeister machine?
That depends on condition and remaining service life. We give you an honest answer on whether repair or a replacement machine is more economical — the advice is free, even if the answer is against repair.
